I'll admit it.
I have a bias towards people who are always running late.
People who are always forgetting their keys, wallet, forgetting to eat, sleep, grieve.
People who are always running to catch up with the bus,
Making it into class just as the bell rings,
Making it to the store just as it's locking up,
Making it to their car just as the meter maid's rummaging for her notepad...
I am fond of the innocent dreamers, the folks who talk to themselves, the people perpetually amazed and delighted by everything, who look on the world with new eyes every day.
I am fond of the absent-minded. (The term was obviously invented by someone that couldn't appreciate the condition.)
Being absent-minded is being too full of the world to dissect it, too distracted with the flavor to distinguish the ingredients.
I have a bias in favor of people who like to Play, to laugh, to frolic and smile, those who can transform any situation, who look at the world from a different angle.
I have a predisposition for people who walk with their noses buried in books, people who make honest noise when they feel something; are unafraid and able to cry freely.
I am fond of those who feel the need to contribute, to create, to extend and improve. I am fond of the day-dreamers, the truth-seekers, the kids in the mismatched clothes with the tired eyes and wonder in their hair...
...Woo-woo! Finals week almost over! I trashed Sartre in an essay today and I'm feeling mighty fine. I'm going to Santa Barbara on Friday with a troupe of friends to bum about the beach, drink to excess and Let off Steam...Today I took a flash picture of a Middle-Easternly looking man in a turban and full out white linen get-up... and he eyed me nervously and crossed himself. Some people just can't accept Technology. Pity, pity.
