Perhaps some of you have been so unfortunate as to see Apple/Mac's
latest ad campaign -- (If you are anything but a cave-dwelling hermit, the campaign's been pretty unavoidable): Gargantuan black and white posters of such noted minds/personalities as Ghandi, Dr.Richard Feynman, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., César Chávez, John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Pablo Picasso,

Jackie Robinson, and Maria Callas (to name a few.) -- truly striking images of truly remarkable individuals, stamped with Apple's little trademark and the slogan "Think different." Every time I pass one of these posters, I'm saddened and enraged by the blatant disrespect for the depicted persons. There are enough things in our day-to-day culture which cheapen fine things and commercialize the exquisite. It bugs the hell out of me to see figures I cherish exploited to sell a sorry little piece of merchandise. So, that's what my head's shaking at this week..

..And, happy late B-day to my Aunt Yane!!
